Out of the two airpots (Aeroporto de Francisco de Sá Carneiro, Porto; and Aeroporto de Lisboa, Lisbon), the nearest international airport to Aveiro is Porto (Aeroporto de Francisco de Sá Carneiro).

 Route from Porto airport to Aveiro

The trip between the airport and the Porto-Campanhã railway station that has direct rail connections to Aveiro, can be made by taxi for around €20 and takes about 20 minutes. A less expensive way to reach the Porto-Campanhã railway station is to use the Metro, which has a terminal at the airport. The metro takes about 40 minutes between the airport and the railway station and the ticket (Z4 ticket) costs €1.85.

The train journey to Aveiro takes between 40 and 75 minutes, depending on the type of train used. There are regular trains between Aveiro and Porto. More information about Portuguese Train timetables is available at www.cp.pt

Lisbon (Aeroporto de Lisboa) to Aveiro

The simplest way to Aveiro is by train from Lisboa-Oriente railway station. To get to the train station from the airport you can use: a taxi, which takes about 10 minutes and costs approximately €13; the Red line of Metro de Lisboa, buying the “Viva Viagem” card (€ 0,50) along with the 1 hour Travel Ticket (€ 1,40); or bus, for example (lines 5 and 44). There are hourly trains from Lisbon to Aveiro, and the journey takes between 2 to 2.5 hours depending on the type of train used – “IC” or “Alfa” -from € 22,20 to € 37,90). By Road

Aveiro is located 45 minutes away from Oporto, 2 hours from Lisbon (motorway A1) and only 2 hours from Spain (motorway A25). Distances to major cities are given below: Coimbra 60 Km, Porto 70 Km, Vilar Formoso (spanish border) 190 Km, and Lisbon 250 Km. Please note that there are some highways on which the tolls are electronic only, which means that there are no cabins and the passing of vehicles is detected by devices placed at the beginning of those highways. By Train
